Screening Note: I was living in Athens, Ohio and saw a theater worker putting the letters up on the Athena's marquee. They were dangerously close to oncoming traffic. I couldn't stop thinking about the image, the peril. I was moving to Chicago three days later. I felt compelled to make a film real quick and relied upon my amazing friend and former basketball buddy, Hsin-ning Chang, who worked at the theater and sometimes put up the marquee letters. She said, "I can't act." I told her, "Just do what you do and I'll take some shots." My favorite screening of this was for 10,000 people at a packed house at Pritzker Pavillion in Chicago to open for the 25th Anniversary of Wayne's World (party on!). The film was introduced by thee Alice Cooper and the crowd laughed at one of the film's gags, and afterward, my mom who was there, said, "Well that was impressive." For most of my other works, I'd get, "Well, that was interesting." "Impressive" is a big step up in the mom world.
