(BACK IN THE) DAY DREAMS

2 min | bw | 16mm | stereo | 2008 | music video

An animated celebration of dreams and realities.

Film Festivals:  Never entered in film festivals.

Screening Note:  Had access to a Bolex, so I decided to take advantage of the situation and make a music video for some of my music. A tribute to childhood, this music video was made with my father over three hot summer days. The soundtrack is from the album MIND RAPER by Dull Boy. This was filmed at my childhood house and my old childhood playground which used to be a dirt patch with monkey bars and swings (now it's really nice). The best part of this was working with my dad, who clicked the shutter for each frame of this timelapse film, while I moved the head all around. We had been estranged and then I found out he was dying, so I was trying to foster a reconnection. He also happened to be a photographer for The Michigan Daily (University of Michigan's) newspaper, so I thought it was special that he was behind the camera again. I'm grateful for this experience and for something that seems as real as it does a (back in the) day dream.
